What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a skin restoration procedure that aims to produce smoother, younger looking skin. It is also used for problem skin - conditions such as acne, blackheads/whiteheads, sun damage and fine lines can all be improved using this highly acclaimed method. With regular treatments, fine lines are diminished, pores are cleansed and refined, skin pigmentation from sun exposure is improved, acne and superficial scarring can also dramatically benefit.
How does it work?
The Diamond peel combination unit brings you the ultimate in new innovative treatments. Diamond Dermabrasion and colour therapy! Diamond peeling is a fantastic anti-aging treatment and leaves the skin feeling soft and silky and looking radiant! No mess no fuss the disks glide effortlessly over the skin performing a wonderful peel! The light therapy produces four colours: red, blue, green and yellow set at varying wavelengths and pulse modes which stimulate different actions in the dermis of the skin. The combination of Microdermabrasion and antioxidants help give your skin a new lease of life with significantly improved texture, tone and appearance.
How does it feel?
Microdermabrasion is usually painless and well tolerated. Some clients have described the sensation as being similar to a cat licking your skin. There should be no side effects and no down time for recovery though some redness will usually occur post treatment.
Is it safe?
Microdermabrasion is a very safe, non-invasive and non-surgical form of skin re-surfacing, where the outermost surface of the skin is partially removed by light abrasion. The results can often be seen in just one visit.
Who can have the treatment?
Microdermabrasion can be used on all skin types, young and old, male and female with no recovery time needed post treatment. How many treatments will I need? We recommend a course six treatments approximately two weeks apart, but this can be discussed with your therapist in your consultation.
Aftercare
Your skin will feel tight, dry and more sensitive for the first 2 days or so.
You need to be gentle to it: wash the skin using lukewarm water, non-perfumed products and avoid any rubbing or scratching.
Avoid any direct sun for about 2 weeks after the treatment. Use a broad-spectrum sun block (minimum SPF15), apply it evenly every 2 to 4 hours if you are outside a lot. This is very important to prevent pigmentation forming.
Do not exercise, use saunas, steam rooms, swimming pool or gym for at least 24 hours after a treatment and no make up should be applied to the treated area the same day.
Ensure you follow your therapist's recommendations.
